CUSTOMER SUCCESS BRIEF

SAIC Environmental Stewardship Policy

A commitment to be environmentally responsible

SAIC is a technology integrator focused on advancing the power of technology and innovation to serve and protect our world. Mission drives us, purpose unites us and opportunities inspire us. Through partnering with our customers and suppliers, we understand that businesses have a responsibility to the environment.

Our goal is to be a good steward of the environment ― by assessing, reducing and mitigating adverse impacts to the planet that may occur through our use of natural resources and the effects of our operations. We understand these impacts could include both climate- and nature-related aspects such as biodiversity. We are committed to protecting the planet.

The nature of our business operations presents limited environmental risk. We set self-imposed goals related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, energy conservation and other important environmental initiatives while recognizing that environmental stewardship exists hand-in-hand with our business priorities.

Our environmental stewardship commitment begins with the company’s value of integrity, which demands unwavering honesty and ethics in everything we do. SAIC is committed to meeting or exceeding all applicable environmental laws and regulations and adhering to any requirements we have set for ourselves.

We strive to be an environmentally responsible neighbor in the communities where we operate, which means we act promptly and responsibly to address issues or conditions that could endanger the environment. Should a situation arise, we report to authorities promptly and inform impacted parties as applicable.

Our environmental stewardship includes, but is not limited to, taking practical steps throughout our business to:

  • Ensure the responsible use of energy, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency and using renewable energy sources if feasible.
  • Conserve natural resources by purchasing and using recycled and sustainable materials.
  • Avoid and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Reduce waste and dispose of all waste appropriately.

We are committed to continually improving our Environmental Management System and have established a process for management reviews, corrective actions and annual audits to help achieve our environmental objectives at those locations where we’ve achieved ISO 14001 certification. Our Environmental Management System helps drives improvement to better address our environmental impacts.

We use our annual Corporate Responsibility Report to detail our environmental goals and progress toward them. We also publish an annual Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures report that includes the company’s climate-related disclosures.

Governance

The Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of SAIC’s Board of Directors has oversight of the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy. SAIC’s ESG Council is charged with the governance around the company’s sustainability efforts. Composed of leaders from across the enterprise, the council serves as an advisory body to our Executive Leadership Team and the Office of ESG Integration on matters related to corporate responsibility, ESG and sustainability.

Risk

We continually evaluate the potential for environmental risk and have not, to date, identified any risk that could have a substantial financial or strategic impact on our business. Through our ongoing risk assessments, we have determined narrow exposure to environmental risks. While we include the environmental risk of climate change in our risk register, we do not consider it a substantial or material risk.

Opportunities

Our Climate Enterprise function addresses the growing challenges of climate change and other environmental topics important to our customers. The program uses climate science, technology and engineering to support federal, state and local government customers with climate change resiliency and mitigation solutions and services. Climate-related opportunities exist, and we expect to grow in the future with expanded customer emphasis on climate change and other environmentally related topics. As a federal government contractor, we anticipate increased opportunities for biodiversity-related work as more federal agencies explore biodiversity impacts.

Suppliers, Subcontractors and Other Third-Party Providers

Working with third parties is a critical component of SAIC’s mission to transform the government and enhance our nation and citizens’ lives. The SAIC Supplier Code of Conduct sets the expectations for all SAIC and SAIC subsidiary suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and other third-party providers, including the company’s minimum standards for environmental stewardship. These third parties must formally acknowledge the Supplier Code to confirm that they understand and agree to comply with the Supplier Code, and that any violation may be cause for termination of the relationship with SAIC.

As outlined in the Supplier Code, we expect our suppliers to:

  • Share our commitment and integrate proactive practices to minimize their environmental impact and waste; consider the full lifecycle of products or services; actively manage risks across their operations, products and supply chain; and work for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with us to be good stewards of the environment by operating in a manner that actively manages risk, conserves natural resources and protects the environment.
  • Establish and apply a systematic approach to managing environmental issues, including potential risk from regulatory noncompliance, reputational loss and opportunities for business growth through operational and product stewardship.

Every employee and every contractor in any of our locations is expected to follow this policy as stated above and to report any environmentally related concern promptly to management.
